Work
In the Japanese film industry, there is no dedicated props department; instead, prop-related tasks fall under the set decoration team.
Unlike the UK, where roles are specialised, a single person typically handles all aspects of prop work.
-
Hero Props
In Japan's unique system, items such as hats, glasses, accessories, bags, and shoes, which are not clothing, are considered props. I style and manage these items accordingly.
-

Graphic Props
Design logos, prints, and other graphic elements using Illustrator, handle the printing and craft process, and use a cutting plotter for precision cutting.
-

Dressing
Assist with basic carpentry and work with Set decoration team to dress sets before filming.
-

Office Management
Manage shooting schedules and team working hours using Team Engine, organise the office, and source materials requested by the Prop team to ensure a smooth workflow.
-

Store Management
Manage warehouse organisation, track props, and handle both pickups and returns.
-

Transport
Pack and transport props for domestic and international shoots, and manage logistics for decorations. I am also capable of arranging shipments from Japanese suppliers to the UK.
-
Food & Flowers
Source and prepare essential food props and flower arrangements for the main actors' use.
-
Buyer/Petty Cash
Handle purchasing, expense reconciliation, and liaise with companies for product placements.
-

On Set Work
Set up props on set, ensure continuity, adapt to the requests of the director, actors, and cameramen as needed, and handle the removal and maintenance of props after filming.

Moulding & Casting
I recently started practising moulding and casting to expand my skill set.
